The first time someone commented on my photo and said “FUPA!” I had to google what it meant.
Fat. Upper. P*ssy. Area.
Now, quick history – this wasn’t a new shame for me. I had targeted hate towards my body for my lower stomach area for so long that I actually don’t recall when it began.
But now, it had a name.
Because now, they gave it name.
This intimate fear and shame, they named it.
And threw it back at me.
Another NORMAL thing that a woman can experience, weaponized against her.
I had to make a choice.
Will this word define me? No.
Will this word change me? No.
So why give it any power over me?
And on with life we go.
